What I Retain as the Producer

Even with an exclusive, professional industry standards allow the producer to retain specific rights. These rights protect both parties and ensure correct credit and compensation.

Producer Credit
I always retain the right to be credited as the producer.
This includes:
-
“Produced by Lazy Aparicio”
-
Credit on streaming platforms
-
Credit on YouTube
-
Metadata / liner notes
Producer credit is a standard, permanent part of every exclusive sale.2. Publishing Share (Songwriter Rights)
As the creator of the instrumental, I keep a portion of the publishing, which is the songwriting side of royalties.
Industry standard publishing split:
50% Producer – 50% Artist
This does not affect your ability to monetize or release the song.
It simply ensures the producer receives their fair share of royalties if the song earns through:
-
Streaming royalties
-
Radio play
-
Live performance royalties
-
Sync placements (TV, film, games, ads)
These rights last for the life of the song, which is how the music industry properly credits creators. What I Give Up
With an Exclusive License, I permanently give up:
-
The right to resell the beat
-
The right to lease it to anyone else
-
The right to give it to another artist
-
Any ownership of the final master recording (your song)
Once purchased, the beat becomes your property to build your vision with.In the Simplest Terms
You own the beat.
I keep my credit.
We share the songwriting.
This protects you, honors my work, and keeps everything aligned with real industry standards.
